It’s been said time and time again that age is just a number – and at 93 years of age, mandolinist Lidabell Beagles from LaFayette, Ga., is living proof of that.

Beagles started playing mandolin at 13, but she took a 60-year hiatus from the instrument after getting married.

“I was young and foolish,” Beagles said laughing to the Times Free Press in a recent interview.

Beagles is an active member of The Valley Singers, a local gospel and bluegrass band who perform mostly at retirement communities and nursing homes.
