Over the years I’ve found that I’ve simplified my desires. It’s not objects that lead to my happiness. Nope, it’s feelings, it’s intent, it’s those special interactions. So in honor of Valentine’s Day, here are some of the things I truly love.

I love when I finish a song and know I did it right. There isn’t a single word that I wish I could change. I’m in love with the melody. Everything about it is right. Ahhh.

I love a good laugh. A huge guffaw. A giggle. A hearty chuckle. I watch funny TV. Go see comedians. Constantly laugh at myself. It’s the best medicine you know.

I love when my kids spontaneously reach out to share something positive. Yes, I will always be there in the down times, but when they want to celebrate with me too, that’s a win I’ll take any day.

I love my guy, and all the little things he does to show he cares. I know he has my back and wants to see me shine. And he gives great foot rubs. Yeah, it’s good.

I love helping make it happen for someone else. When I see the work, the talent, the drive to show up and I can help that person take one step closer to their goal….that’s the thing that makes me smile.

I love when one of my clients gives me a pat on the back. As a freelancer it can take a leap of faith. You know you are doing a good job, but when a client actually compliments your work, well then you know that they know. And that feels good.

I love watching my pups sleep. Their little furry bodies curled up. I know they feel safe, and I love that they feel safe.

I love surprises. A good word. An invitation. A little note. A hello. A wink.

I love being with people. At a dinner, a party, having a coffee, putting our heads together. People energize me and make me see beyond what I know.

I love being alone. And sipping tea with a bagel with cream cheese. The peace of my own space. The time to calm my brain.

I love going to the beach. It’s my happy place. Sitting on a beach chair with my toes in the water is one of the greatest pleasures in life.

I love that you have read this to the end. Because when you write you never know if someone will read it. And maybe it doesn’t matter, but it’s cool anyway!

Oh and I love flowers. And chocolate. And pumpkin pie. Just sayin’. What do you love?

Happy Valentine’s Day!
