Miley Cyrus Releases Poignant Video for “Used to be Young”

It’s a great time to be a millenial nearing 30, or anyone feeling that they’re finally ‘growing up’.

After teasing the release with the track’s lyrics, Miley has released the gorgeous new video for a track from her latest album, Endless Summer Vacation, “Used To Be Young”. It’s a timely re-release/feature for the track, which plays like a perfect sister/next song on the playlist to Billie Eilish’s gorgeous piano-centric single from the Barbie soundtrack, “What Was I Made For”.

Miley looks right into the camera, wide-eyed and earnest from the first lyric. True to form, she continues to bare her heart on her sleeve, and the video brings to mind how much of a privilege it’s been for us aforementioned millennials nearing 30 to have had her as a generational voice.

“Used To Be Young” is a self-assured, bittersweet and celebratory track of acceptance for a girlhood passed; thank you, Miley, for continuing to share yourself with us, and in so doing adding another song to the soundtrack of our own “growing up”.
