Living fearlessly does not mean the complete absence of fear. It is not always being unafraid. Being fearless is having fears, having doubts, and jumping in anyway.
What do you have in mind for 2018? Is there one goal that you can’t quit thinking about?
- Do you want to go on tour?
- Have you been wanting to release new music?
- Change your musical direction?
- Start an entirely new band?
- Begin working in music business?
- Switch jobs in the music industry?
- Launch a new company/organization?
No matter what your goal is, let yourself know that feeling nervous at the beginning of a new journey is completely normal.
Instead of letting these fears prevent you from beginning, use them to fuel your fire! Nothing worth having comes easy.
As a new year is given to us, I encourage you to write your own story and go for the dreams that you may have held back thus far.
Here are 5 ways to live fearlessly in 2018!
#1 Listen To Your Inner Voice
Picture this: you’re 80 years old and looking back on your career. What is one thing you wish you could have accomplished before that moment?
Your inner voice can be annoying at times. It is in many of us; urging us to jump into something that we have always been afraid to do.
Maybe we’re afraid of beginning because this dream feels like our life purpose; and the thought of failing seems like too much to bear.
Regret is much more to hard to take than trying your best. With this, I encourage you to listen to your voice in 2018! I believe each person is born with an underlying purpose that is just waiting to be discovered.
Follow your inner voice and the path that you’ve been wanting to walk down your whole life. That direction will feel scary because it hasn’t been trodden by you, but it’ll be worth the journey.
#2 Make Your Dream Attainable
Now that we’ve listened to our inner voice, it’s time to make our goals become a reality. The reason why a lot of people don’t go for their inner calling is because they believe it is unattainable. How do you know that this is for sure though?
Write out a list of small steps you can take to make your dreams become a reality. These logical and thought-out tasks will set you on the path to the life that you’ve always wanted.
Success doesn’t come overnight. It is a million small and hard tasks that add up over years. What are your steps? Write them down and begin today!
#3 Live Authentically
In 2018, inauthenticity doesn’t stand a chance. This is in business, music, and everywhere in between. The average consumer is much more aware of people’s and organization’s motives.
Inauthenticity is now so much easier to spot and does not respond as well.
When you fight for your dreams, you create a light around you that inspires others to do the same. You are no longer taking from the world, but are giving back to it with inspiring energy!
People will become addicted to this light and energy that you create. This is letting go of any self-doubt, ego, or competitive energy that may have held you back in 2017.
You don’t have to be someone else to make your dreams become a reality. You have already been yourself this whole time! All you have to be is you. I promise this will resonate so much more with those around you. Because no one else is you, and that’ll be what makes you unique.
#4 Be Your Biggest Fan
How many times have we read success stories that had rocky starts? Movies that almost got canceled… musicians that were rejected by every label… the stories go on and on.
To be able to live fearlessly in 2018, you will have to acknowledge the fact that many people won’t believe in you to the same extent that you do. There will be those who will reject you, try to knock you down, or some that may simply be the wrong fit for you and what you are trying to accomplish.
These individuals not being the right fit for you does not take away from your value. (Or theirs.)
Instead of becoming discouraged from these people and backing away from your dream, become your biggest fan in these moments.
If you believe in what you do, eventually others will too. The rest is just straight up hard work, smart ideas, and determination.
#5 Begin every day like it is your first!
You know that feeling when you first jump into something? You have all your energy focussed on it. You went full force ahead with all the optimism in the world by your side.
Putting yourself out there is the only way to obtain your life purpose. But to be fearless, you must recognize that putting yourself out there results in a 50/50 chance of rejection.
After a few things don’t work out, it can be easy to become discouraged. Therefore slowing down our dream’s progress. Instead, begin every day like it is your first!
One of my favorite sayings in the world is tabula rasa: blank slate. If you wipe away the negative thoughts of the day before, you begin the next with a productive mindset.
Positivity = productivity.
Every day is the opportunity to start again. If you take each day with grace, optimism, and excitement – it’ll be hard to stop you.
Wish you luck in living fearless in 2018!
