Watch Women of NAMM’s ReVoicing the Future LIVE at the June 2022 Show

At the June 2022 NAMM Show in Anaheim, Women of NAMM’s podcast gathered leaders across women in music organizations for a how it started/how it’s going conversation about collaboration and the importance of our shared mission.

Hosted and Produced by Natalie Morrison of D’Addario, Co-Produced and occasionally Co-Hosted by yours truly, and edited by Julia Olsen, ReVoicing the Future features female leaders from across the music products industry sharing their professional journeys and lessons learned to empower the professional development of emerging talent in the industry. When we knew we’d have the chance to bring our podcast live to the show itself, we went meta–let’s have a conversation on our women in music podcast WITH leaders from women in music organizations about the work itself.

Originally broadcasted from The NAMM Show on June 3rd, 2022, Natalie, Julia and I hosted Terri Winston, Founder of Women’s Audio Mission (WAM), Myki Angeline, from our very own WiMN and fresh off of her award at She Rocks the night prior, and Elise Solberg, Founder of Turn Up Her Mic. Each guest brought with them an incredible diversity of tenure, experience, and industry niche, and it was one of the more engaging and inspirational conversations I’ve ever been part of.

With perspectives ranging from the studio world, to radio, to touring, we tackled topics like how to break down the silos among the many invaluable existing organizations, how to intelligently seek partnerships, and unlearning the scarcity mindset often left over from the early stages of trailblazing a historically male-dominated space; it was illuminating to say the least (so wonderfully illuminating, I might add, that I’m writing to you now from the WIMN, courtesy of that connection with Myki!).

We named the panel ‘Rising Together’ in the spirit of this consensus; there’s room for all of us in this important work, and when we work together effectively, we can create the industry we all want to be a part of.
