Taylor+Swift

It looks like Christmas came early for the Nashville Symphony with a surprise  donation of $100,000 by country star Taylor Swift.

The donation came in a very opportune time, as the Nashville Symphony narrowly avoided foreclosure on its concert hall, the Schermerhorn Symphony Center over this summer, and reached a contract with its musicians in which they agreed to a one-year contract that included a painful 15-percent salary cut, according to the New York Times.

Swift decided to celebrate her 24th birthday on Dec. 13 by honoring the Symphony with a hefty $100K donation. Though she has not performed with the Nashville Symphony, she was the recipient of its annual Harmony Award in 2011, and has performed at the Schermerhorn.

This is not the first time Swift makes a donation of this kind. A resident of Nashville since she was 14, Swift also pledged $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012, and 14,000 children’s books to the Nashville Public Library the same year.

Kudos to the young singer for her generous spirit! Read more at the NYtimes.com.
