Blending classic indie pop sounds with narrative-driven storytelling, Payson Meistrich is back with her new single, “Come Back To You”, embracing her signature mix of emotional vulnerability, humor and toxic relationships.
It’s never ending, the running back to the same person and wishing you should have listened to your gut instead of leading with the heart and fleeting love; “No matter what I do, I still come back to you,” the New York-based Indie-Pop Singer-Songwriter sings.
Before “Come Back To You” was her debut single “Made Me Insane,” which accumulated over 300,000 streams, then “Bad for Me (Harry Styles),” a bouncy pop song with witty lyrics and biting self awareness, celebrating her love for Harry Styles and all men who resemble him (no matter how they treat her).
Through it all, she’s inspired by gritty pop queens and singer-songwriters, and her music has a blend of influences – from Halsey, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish to SZA and Ryn Weaver and Stevie Nicks, particularly for their songwriting and production, but also for their somewhat petty penchant for profiting off of their heartbreak. Meistrich’s own wit is ever-present even as she mines her pain, making her a vibrant addition to the lineup of her idols.
