Pandora is currently looking for Summer 2015 interns on their playlist algorithms group. They’re looking for candidates with a strong background in music search and discovery. Areas of interest are natural language processing and signal processing as well as core machine learning and recommender systems.
If you’re looking to work on Music-IR at scale, Pandora might have just what you’re looking for. Their service spins music to over 77 million monthly active listeners and they have collected over 46 billion thumbs. On the content-based side, they’re working with well over a million songs labeled by expert musicologists on up to 450 musical characteristics.

Requirements:
– PhD candidate in CS/EE
– Strong publication record in Music-IR, machine learning, signal processing, and/or natural language processing
– Ability to prototype and develop custom algorithms
– Knowledge of recommender systems
– Proficiency in Python/Scala/Java
– Experience in Spark/Hadoop is a plus
