Kaia Kater Unveils New Album ‘Grenades’ Now Streaming on NPR First Listen

Canadian folk singer-songwriter Kaia Kater has premiered her new album, Grenades, on NPR First Listen.  The record released on October 26 via Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, and is available to stream via NPR.

Kater was born in Granada during the socialist revolution before relocating to Canada at age 14. NPR praises the new album stating, “dusky soul-jazz… [Kater] recalls Laurel Canyon folk and ’70s soft country, not to mention the ethereal solo output of Daniel Lanois and Aöife O’Donovan” and Rolling Stone says that she is a “breakout moment as a vital roots storyteller… [flourishing] of a cappella balladry, old-time music, gentle-strummed folk, and country-lilted pop, represents a subtle but marked shift in Kater’s sound.”
