Oakland-based Aussie dream-pop queen Hazel English has been off the grid for some time. The Artist To Watch has not launched new music since her double EP Just Give In / Never Going Home in 2017. However now, English is sharing a brand new tune known as “Shaking,” the primary single from an upcoming yet-to-be-detailed challenge.

Written with Lana Del Rey’s touring guitarist, Blake Stranathan and producer Justin Raisen (whose consumer record consists of Angel Olsen, Charli XCX, Sky Ferreira, Kim Gordon, and Miya Folick amongst others), “Shaking” strikes proper on the coronary heart of ’60s psychedelia. Its ridiculously catchy core melody feels contemporary whereas retaining a retrospective sensibility. In a press launch, English mentioned, “‘Shaking’ presents the promise of non secular awakening as a sort of seduction with the intention to lull the person into false truths. It’s meant to be a playful, tongue–in–cheek track so principally I get some enjoyable out of it.”

The video, directed by Erin S. Murray, hones in on era-appropriate nostalgia with baby-doll clothes, beehives, and tons of jello. It’s shot by means of sunny but grainy filter, and depicts English luring in a fair-haired hunk into her cult.
