With the single racking up nearly 2 million streams since its release, the “Love Myself” music video is riding the wave of positive recognition for her empowering track.
Steinfeld as an actress refuses to be type-casted, and is not planning on changing that with her emergence into the music industry with Republic Records. “Love Myself” speaks of self service (as noted on her bodysuit – we see you!), body positivity, and embracing oneself. The track is co-written by Steinfeld and Julia Michaels, who has penned tracks for Selena Gomez, Rita Ora and Zedd.“Love Myself” features top-notch production by Mattman & Robin, who have worked with female empowerment pop stars such as Taylor Swift and Tove Lo.
In the music video, Steinfeld is dancing around a sidewalk in NYC, with a giant mirror-cube with “#LoveMyself” printed on the top. This makes for a perfect impromptu dance party on the streets, with city-goers checking themselves out and doling out some self-love.
