It’s been a tremendous year for Lauper.
Since June she has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the TODAY Show, Watch What Happens Live and The Kelly Clarkson Show. The Empire State Building was lit in canary yellow in her honor, and she has been profiled by CBS Sunday Morning, the New York Times and Variety. She was also honored with a hand imprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood (with an introduction by her friends Cher and Bebe Rexha) and introduced Sabrina Carpenter’s performance at the MTV VMA Awards last month. Lauper has also made surprise appearances on stage at recent Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry concerts.
Lauper announced her Farewell Tour in June, in tandem with the release of Let The Canary Sing, a feature-length documentary film that explores Lauper’s extraordinary life and career.
The film, directed by Alison Elwood, is “a story filled with flair, honesty and truth,” (The Wrap), “highlights how wonderfully unusual she really is” (SPIN) and “does an excellent job of tracing how Cyndi Lauper came to be…Cyndi Lauper” (Variety). Stream on Paramount+.
