Countdown to 2023 Day 4: Get Curious

A new year is an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone. The WIMN team shares some of their favorite music-related recommendations for inspiration to expand your horizons in 2023.

  1. Explore social media to appreciate the creativity of online music teachers.
Check out Lessons with Lindy and give her bite-sized lessons a try. Whether you’re a seasoned played or just starting out, her tips are easy to integrate into any repertoire.

2. Go to the show of an artist you’ve never seen play live before.
A powerhouse shredder with incredible vocals, Samantha Fish puts on a jaw-dropping show. For a preview, check out her set below from the XPoNential Music Festival, and you can check out her upcoming tour dates HERE.

3. Check out a local music venue.
Look up the local spot in your town you’ve never been to before or perhaps don’t go to enough, and go! New music discovery is always worth the trip.

4. Get inspired by the world of podcasting.
ReVoicing the Future from Women of NAMM is an incredible place to listen and learn from female leaders in the music industry.

Another great podcast is Laura Clapp Davidson’s “Song 43“. Laura is a mom, a singer/songwriter, a wife and a marketing guru for Shure Incorporated. Song 43 is a podcast about how she juggles all of these things and sometimes gets a chance to create some music along the way.

4. Explore your local symphony.
The symphony offers a great opportunity to get dressed up and have a night out celebrating local music. Visiting contributors always bring a fresh spin to the group, and for movie score aficionados, keep an eye out for movie screenings with the scores played live.
