Serbian blues guitarist Ana Popovic was interviewed by Fender to talk about her new album, Can You Stand the Heat.

The album, co-produced with B.B. King drummer Tony Coleman, was recorded in Memphis, Tenn., in hopes of capturing the town’s funky vibes.

“It’s not the prettiest place, but it’s got soul. That’s for sure,” Popovic told Fender.com about Memphis. “People play here like you never hear people play anymore. You go to some of the juke joints and it’s like you are back in the day, 50 years ago in this hot, southern juke joint.”

Popovic also talks about her jazz studies at the Utrecht Conservatory in Holland, her guitar collection, and her guitar heroes.
