New York City-based all-female band Flor de Toloache was recently interviewed by the New York Times.

The band is comprised of a diverse group of ladies, one German, another from the U.S. of Egyptian descent, and others from Cuba, Colombia, Dominican Republic, and Argentina.

Mireya Ramos, the band’s co-founder and lead singer, told the New York Times that the mariachi culture is very “macho” oriented.

But that hasn’t stopped Flor de Toloache from succeeding. The group plays gigs regularly, and even captured lip balm manufacturer ChapStick’s attention, who offered them a commercial opportunity.

Visit Flor de Toloache’s website here, and watch them perform mariachi classic “Guadalajara,” and the catchy song they wrote for ChapStick below.
