During the 2013 NAMM show in Anaheim, Calif., the WiMN was fortunate enough to witness the Mariachi Divas live. These ladies blew us AWAY!

The Mariachi Divas are a multicultural all-female ensemble that has been represented by women of Mexican, Cuban, Samoan, Argentinean, Colombian, Panamanian, Puerto Rican, Swiss, Japanese, Honduran, Guatemalan, Salvadorian, Peruvian, Tongan and Anglo descents.

The band boasts four GRAMMY nominations, one Latin GRAMMY nomination, and scored a GRAMMY award in 2009 for Best Regional Mexican Album of the year for their album Canciones De Amor (Love Songs). That was the first time in the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ history that an all-girl mariachi band had been a nominee and a winner.

Mariachi Divas vocalist and violin player Angel Garcia was recently interviewed by Hispanic Lifestyle, and she talks about how she got to join the band and what it takes to be a diva. Check it out below:
