The challenge to remain creative during these uncertain times is a real struggle so many musicians are facing during this coronavirus global pandemic.  Songathon has provided a unique solution to not only give songwriters inspiration, but a chance to make a difference and win a prize by doing so!

Based in NYC, Songathon was founded by Jazz drummer/film producer Noah Hyams, and composer/songwriter Amber Ward who crafted a vision of bringing together songwriters in the only in-person songwriting competition. Recently they launched a brand new challenge that supports the GlobalGiving Coronavirus Relief Fund.

The prompt for this challenge is to utilize the word “distance” in your song; the song title, concept, or jump off point. Create a song based around social distancing and how the isolation has effected you as an artist and in your personal life.

The challenge will have guest judges that include The Score, VÉRITÉ, and RuthAnne, and two categories to win in – the Judges’ Choice Award and the Audience Choice Award.

Submissions Deadline is May 1, 2020. Visit the website for rules and entry information here: www.songathon.org/prompt-challenge. Best of luck to all who enter!
