Samantha Margret Shines with “I’m burning”

Dark-pop songstress Samantha Margret’s latest single, “I’m burning”, questions power and agency with her characteristically immersive production.

Samantha Margret writes music for the woman who wants to own her history, her body, and her feelings. Her anti-patriarchy single “RAGE” and her debut EP of the same name brought her poetic lyrics and dark production editorial praise, from the likes of playlists like Spotify’s SALT, Villain Mode and Created By Women.

Now, her clear artistic voice continues to ring out, equally at home making battle cries as it is in the slow burn.

“I’m burning” was co-produced by Samantha and her longtime friend and close collaborator, Sam X, and the production is immersive, tactile, and deep, perfectly fitting into the rest of the Samantha Margret canon.

On it, Samantha toys with the thought, “Who has the power really?” She muses – “If you bring the matches but I am the kindling, that heat is mine. So the real question is: how much power am I willing to spend burning us both to the ground?” The track explores power—the people who hold it, the way they wield it against one another and ultimately against themselves.
