Richmond indie rock singer Lucy Dacus released her new song “Night Shift” which will be on her forthcoming sophomore album, Historian. The LP is set to be released on March 2, 2018, on Matador Records.

“Night Shift” has been praised by NPR as “a stunning debut from a timeless artist” and “fragile yet commanding voice and barbed lyrics that move between wounded and wounding” by New York Times. Lucy says that Historian “is the album I needed to make. Everything after this is a bonus,” and explains the record’s intentions, “it starts out dark and ends hopeful, but it gets darker in between; it goes to the deepest, darkest, place and then breaks. What I’m trying to say throughout the album is that hope survives, even in the face of the worst stuff.”

In support of the new album, Lucy will also be embarking on a Worldwide 2018 tour. You can check out the dates below and learn more on Lucy’s official website.
