In this podcast episode of LIVE: Front & Center, Myki Angeline talks with DJ Lady Char (aka Charlene Ramos) who is one of Northern California’s most prominent and musically diverse deejays, with club residencies from Santa Rosa down to Long Beach. Char sits down with Myki and speaks openly about her music journey, the essential equipment no deejay should be without, and how her schedule was impacted when the world shut down during the global pandemic. Char also talks about a project close to her heart; the ‘Love Beat DJ Workshop’ she founded in 2016. The program is a hands-on experience that teaches the young people everything they need to know about becoming a deejay; from creating your own beats, to marketing and public speaking.

Char was raised in Santa Rosa, California and found her love for music in the beautiful Bay Area. Char grew up with a family who surrounded themselves with music and dancing and through them she gained a very broad musical taste (80’s, Souls, Reggae, R&B, Hip Hop, Alternative and even Country.) She was introduced to House Music during the late 90’s rave scene and this then paved the way towards her musical career. Before COVID Char would travel all over the Bay Area on a weekly bases rocking dance floors with pride. She is an open format DJ who loves to genre-hop during her sets, offering each night as a musical journey to her followers. She has been involved with many reputable event productions, including 4 years at Russian River Women’s Weekend in Guerneville, Sonoma County, Sacramento and San Mateo Gay Pride events.

Char has a strong love of not just playing music, but being an active part of the community and our youth. She is an open format DJ who loves to genre hop during her sets, offering each night as a musical journey to her followers. In early 2016 she started her own after school DJ youth enrichment program where she educates and inspires youth through music and DJ culture.
