Local Sirens is a free quarterly performance series presented by Women’s Audio Mission featuring emerging and established local women-identified (cisgender or transgender) and non-binary artists. The September showcase will feature artists Dio Ganhdih, The Onyx, and headliner Lucy Camp as part of her Campfire Tour.
San Jose’s 21-year-old rhyme prodigy, Lucy Camp, has amassed over 3 Million organic views on YouTube alone with her genre-subversive approach to alternative Hip Hop and has been co-signed by taste-maker outlets like BBC 1, 2DopeBoyz, and Tommy Boy. Her most recent single, “The Move” was voted #1 on Reddit’s r/listentothis section and she’s been described by Crack In The Road as “a potential game changer.” Her new mixtape Campfire is set for release this August, followed by her long awaited debut LP in the fall on QUINTIC.
The Onyx is an all black female music ensemble. This collective of women came together to solidify unity among women of color and to provide an artistic outlet for the female voice to be heard. Hailing from and recalling styles of Oakland, Atlanta, New York and Chicago, this eclectic group brings soul, rock, funk, and latin music to an electrifying peak that will have you on your feet!
Local Sirens is made possible through support from California Arts Council, San Francisco Arts Commission, Zellerbach Family Foundation, Horizons Foundation, and Grants for the Arts.
