We recently shared the story of a special group of ladies that built Gibson guitars during WWII while men were away fighting in the war.

These women were dubbed “Kalamazoo Gals” by author John Thomas, who wrote a book titled Kalamazoo Gals: A Story of Extraordinary Women and Gibson’s Banner Guitars of World War II.

Thomas recently made an appearance on NBC New York along with Mamie Minch, who is head of repairs at Retrofret Vintage Guitars in Brooklyn, N.Y. Together they discussed the forgotten story of the women who built Gibson’s Banner guitars.
