There is a debate as to whether women in business should hug or shake hands. According to Forbes, women in business should skip hugging and start shaking.

The publication reports that a study on handshakes held by the Income Center for Trade Shows showed that people are two times more likely to remember you if you shake hands with them. The trade-show researchers also found that people react to those with whom they shake hands by being more open and friendly.

According to the study, people with good handshakes (good meaning firm, web-to-web, calm-to-palm) are evaluated as being extroverted and emotionally expressive. Forbes mentions this is particularly important for women in business, because women with firm handshakes are evaluated as positively as men.
