Jazz pianist and composer Monika Herzig is launching an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for the release of the CD portion of her project titled The Whole World in Her Hands

The Whole World in Her Hands is a musical collaboration featuring outstanding female jazz artists from around the globe under the direction of Monika Herzig and produced by Suzi Reynolds. The project includes audio recordings, a video documentary, and a songbook, as well as concerts to inspire the next generation of jazz women.

“The main problem in the public perception of women in jazz is not a resistance to their potential future roles, but a failure to recognize the profound impact those musicians have already had on the game,” said Janis Stockhouse, co-author of Women Jazz Musicians: Conversations with Twenty One Musicians, and band director at Bloomington High School North in Bloomington, Ind.

The tracks were recorded at Avatar Studios in New York City and are awaiting a financial investment to complete mixing and production.

You can donate to this project and become part of the global journey from the comfort of your own home through the Indiegogo website here, from Oct. 6, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2014.
