A new year is just around the corner! Have you been writing your New Year’s resolutions?

Let this new year bring new opportunity! Here are a few New Year’s resolution ideas for growing your music career in 2019.

  1. Get creative!

Working within the music industry, it can feel like you have a never-ending list of things to do and people to get back to. This can lead to stress and less time to do what is the foundation of your career – creativity!

Schedule a specific time out of your day to brainstorm! Put on some music, plan out your goals, and write down anything that comes to your mind. Get creative!

2.) Grow your social media!

The key to social media growth is consistency! Like working out, if you post more throughout the week you will inevitably reach more people and grow your socials.

3.) Take an online course!

Berklee College of Music offers online schooling and degrees! Even though this is a more pricey New Year’s resolution, it will pay off with the new opportunities that come from your newfound knowledge.

4.) Listen to Podcasts throughout your day!

This is a great alternative to #3 if you want to learn but don’t have as much time in your schedule. In 2019, fit in music business podcasts throughout your day!

Listen to podcasts:

  • At the gym/on a run
  • During your commute
  • While you’re cleaning/cooking
  • Instead of listening to music/watching movies

5.) Work hard, rest harder.

In the music industry it can be easy to work yourself too hard and burnout. Remember this: you can still be successful AND take breaks. Days off will help you work harder and smarter when you are “on the job.”

6.) Start an affirmation journal.

When was the last time you told yourself you are amazing, and meant it?

In an industry that’s always criticizing you, this can take a hit to your self-esteem. Staying on top of your mental health is essential to having a productive and happy year.

In 2019, try creating an “affirmation journal!” In this book, write down the things you’re thankful for and good at. Affirm the goals you are going to succeed at. This will brighten your mood and help motivate you through the hard times.

7.) Be easy on yourself.

You’ll never feel perfectly ready or “good enough.” Everything is a process, and every day you have the opportunity to get closer to your dream. In 2019, we encourage you to be easy on yourself and trust your individual journey. You got this.
