lauren-elle-jayeElle Jaye has made a successful career out of doing what she loves; photography. While her work ranges from weddings and family portraits to professional head shots, Elle Jaye’s specialty is shooting musicians, particularly drummers and drum kits. Her extraordinary work has taken her across the globe creating fantastic opportunities of a life time.  I had the honor of working with Elle Jaye a few years ago on a unique photo shoot and have followed her career ever since.  I seized the opportunity to interview this beautiful human and find out what she has been up to lately.

Lauren Elle Jaye has been photographing musicians and the music scene for over 12 years. She started out shooting night life photography for hard core bands in music venues. Eventually she moved to the country and away from the scene kids, thus she embarked on a career photographing weddings and portraits. But she soon learned this was not as fulfilling for her as the music scene was, so she made the decision to return to working full time with musicians and has never looked back.

I asked Elle Jaye what was it about drummers that holds a special place in her heart.  She loves everything about the drumming community, “Drummers, I’ve found, are the biggest collection of sweet humans I’ve encountered in my path.  They work so hard for generally very little appreciation.  They’re first to load in, last to load out, always get shoved to the back of the stage, and have the most gear to lug (usually).  They’re patient, kind and are absolutely the backbone of the music being played.” she says.

Speaking of sweet humans, she is the mother of two handsome, young boys to which she affectionately refers to as, her “little filthies”. Sons Liam (7) and Finn (5) are her world and provide daily doses of entertainment for endless blogging and photo opportunities. Elle Jaye balances work and motherhood with the help of family members whenever she travels on location.

Her work has been published in Modern Drummer, Drum! Magazine, and Rhythm Magazine (U.K.) respectively, along with several local publications. You can see Elle Jaye’s edgy, colorful photos featured on various websites for artists and artisans all over the world. Her latest announcement: she is thrilled to be working with Serenity Drums this fall and will be touring the U.K. with them. Look for her at NAMM 2017 as well!
