People have been mesmerized by mermaids and mermen for centuries. Greek mythology tells the tale of King Triton, messenger of the sea. Probably the most famous story about mermaids is by author Hans Christian Andersen. His fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” was first published in 1837, with a family-friendly version made popular by Disney in 1989.  Businesses like Dive Bar in downtown Sacramento, CA host real mermaids that swim in a tank above the bar for patrons to marvel at.

The Musical Mermaids have taken their show one step further by incorporating singing and the playing of instruments during their performances. Based in Ibiza, these talented ladies began performing in 2017 with a gig in The Maldives for an underwater-themed Easter party, at the luxurious One & Only resort Reethi Rah. Their growing popularity has brought them to Italy with recent performances in Rome and Panarea (an island off Sicily), the pipeline in Capri (on the infamous ‘Mermaid Rocks’), and the Greek islands.

Director and singer/guitarist mermaid Claire explains, “My fellow mermaids and I have shared many amazing smiles at some crazy locations we’ve found ourselves performing in. It’s also really enjoyable seeing the reactions of guests at these parties when they see and hear us for the first time. It’s the kind of stuff dreams are made of. Never a dull moment when you’re a Musical Mermaid!”
