Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards are Deap Vally, a rock band from Los Angeles, California whose style has been described by The Guardian as “hard-riffing blues rock”. The pair formed in 2011 and within two years found themselves sharing the stage with icons like The Vaccines, Muse, and Marilyn Manson. Most recently they opened for Garbage and Blondie as part of the Rage and Rapture tour.

Despite achieving early success, Troy (guitars, vocals) and Edwards (drums, vocals) still find themselves not taken seriously as musicians because they are women. In my interview the two talk about the annoying questions they get from men who mistaken their onstage energy for being ‘angry’. Or how the crowd will judge them by their appearance until they rock the stage.

The two have also volunteered with the Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls in L.A., a non-profit music camp whose mission is to empower girls through music.

Deap Vally were a part of the sold out Monster Energy Aftershock Festival that took place in Sacramento, California October 2017.  In its sixth year, this metal mayhem held performances by legendary and national acts such as Ozzy Osbourne, Nine Inch Nails, Halestorm, In This Moment, Butcher Babies, A Perfect Circle, Five Finger Death Punch, Stone Sour, and Mastodon with over 50,000 in attendance at this two day festival.

Their next performance is November 11 at the Festerval in Vancouver, BC. To purchase their music and concert tickets, visit: www.deapvally.com
